Clay Ward, PA-C

Clay is the founder and CEO of Nereus Medical Solutions. Prior to founding Nereus, Clay spent 24 years in the United States Navy, beginning his career as a  Fleet Marine Force Qualified Hospital Corpsman, followed by selection for commissioning as a Naval Officer and Physician Assistant.  Lieutenant Commander Ward’s service spanned multiple deployments providing medical care in austere environments around the world. He has significant experience delivering care and solving complex medical contingency issues in remote settings, to include the maritime environment. His  numerous tours and assignments include 1st Battalion 2nd Marines, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, 2nd Battalion 8th Marines, Provincial Reconstruction Teams, and serving as a  Medical Officer with Naval Special Warfare Development Group. While assigned to Naval Special Warfare, he was recognized as a subject matter expert regarding medical contingency planning and risk mitigation. While on active duty, Lieutenant Commander Ward frequently collaborated on executive level cross functional teams throughout the US Government on medical response planning and medical capability development. He received numerous personal awards during his military service, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and Bronze Star. Since retiring from the Navy, Clay has traveled internationally to provide trauma training to medical personnel, and he has led various efforts at Nereus Medical Solutions, including deploying in the initial medical response effort in the Bahamas following Hurricane Dorian. Clay is a graduate of the University of Nebraska, and he completed his Masters in Physician Assistant Studies through the Interservice Physician Assistant Program. In 2011, he completed a one-year Postgraduate Physician Assistant Fellowship in Orthopedic Surgery through the Bone and Joint Sports Medicine Institute at Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. He is an Advanced Open Water Diver and Certified Hyperbaric Practitioner.
